HeatPraxia: Flooded with Hope

By Hayden Hudiburg

Along the calm Sanders Beach shore of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, HeatPraxia is set to redefine the concept of holistic wellness. With its state-of-the-art sauna therapies, the business aims to provide physical, emotional, and spiritual healing to the community.

Rising Above Adversity: The Flood That Changed Everything

Damage from a broken water pipe

HeatPraxia originally opened its doors in November 2022, but its beginnings were met with an unexpected challenge. A little more than 2 years after opening, the pipes broke (January 13, 2024) flooding the building and rendering the space unusable. For Heather, the general manager turned partner, the incident was both heartbreaking and a turning point.

"I was devastated," Heather shared. "But I chose to see it as a sign to take a risk and dream bigger. After all, we couldn’t throw in the towel—we had too many!"

With optimism and determination, Heather convinced the team to relocate to a larger space that offered new possibilities. The transition was not without struggles, including navigating permits and financial hurdles. However, thanks to the overwhelming support of the community, HeatPraxia persevered. The new location, slated to open by March 2025, promises to offer more than just saunas.

Expanded Offerings for Holistic Wellness

The new HeatPraxia location is designed as a hub for holistic healing. In addition to saunas, the facility will feature nine wellness practitioners who offer services such as health and mindset coaching, massage, energy work, nutrition classes, and Reiki. This expanded vision reflects HeatPraxia’s mission to address wellness on multiple levels, from reducing inflammation and improving circulation to aiding addiction recovery through dopamine release.

Heather’s Journey to Healing

Heather’s connection to HeatPraxia and Coeur d’ Alene is deeply personal. She was born here, along with her pain. Diagnosed with arthritis at the age of five and later battling neuropathy and autoimmune disorders, she endured chronic pain for over 15 years. In 2021, Heather joined HeatPraxia as a general manager, drawn by the potential of sauna and red-light therapies to alleviate pain and improve quality of life.

“It’s like HeatPraxia found me,” she said, reflecting on her journey.

In 2022, her struggles intensified after being struck by a car door during a severe windstorm, leaving her unconscious and further diminishing her quality of life. Yet, these experiences only deepened Heather’s passion for healing and helping others overcome similar challenges.

Building a Community of Wellness

Heather’s ultimate goal is ambitious: to holistically rid the world of pain. This vision has driven her work at HeatPraxia, where she hopes to create a space for healing that extends beyond physical well-being. With the community’s support and a shared belief in the power of holistic health, HeatPraxia’s new location stands as a testament to resilience and transformation.

Now officially open, HeatPraxia is poised to become a sanctuary for those seeking relief, recovery, and renewal. Whether through sauna therapy, coaching, or energy work, Heather and her team are committed to making a lasting impact on their community.
