About the Event
As the days grow shorter and the land rests, we gather around the warmth of shared creation. Hearthcraft is a winter series of our monthly circle; a space to slow down, make with our hands, and nourish community through simple acts of beauty and togetherness.
Each gathering centers around handwork and hearth arts such as woodburning, whittling, beadwork, handstitching, or whatever craft calls to you this season. Bring a project you’re working on or begin something new alongside others. Those with skills to share are invited to offer informal teachings whether a beginner's knitting pattern, a carving technique, or another traditional craft. As we work, we’ll weave in moments of storytelling, poetry, and song, honoring the age-old rhythm of winter evenings by the fire.
This series is offered as separate men’s and women’s circles, and older kids or teens are welcome to join alongside their parent or guardian.
Please bring:
- A craft or project to work on (any materials or tools you need)
- A cloth or covering if needed to protect surfaces
- Any supplies needed to clean up after your project
- Blanket, sweater, warm socks or slippers as the yurt gets a bit more chilly in the winter
- Snacks or small offerings to share (optional), tea is provided
Members: Free
Non-Members: $10 per person. Payment can be completed in-person with cash, or preferably, online here.
To help us keep our men’s circle grounded, welcoming, and intentional, please keep the following in mind:
+ Fragrance & Ritual: We use incense, sage, and palo santo as part of our rituals. These are meaningful and central to our practice. If you're sensitive to smoke, you're welcome to sit farther from the altar, we just ask that you respect the presence of these elements.
+ Timeliness & Presence: Please plan to arrive a few minutes early and stay for the full event. Coming or going during the circle can disrupt the sacred container we’re holding together.
+ Sharing Space: During discussion, we aim to witness and support one another, not to fix. If you feel called to offer advice or reflections, please ask first: “Would you like feedback or just to be heard?” We also invite everyone to be mindful of how much space they’re taking up in conversation, and to leave room for those who haven’t spoken yet.
+ Staying on Topic: Please stay present with the discussion prompt or theme during the circle. We leave time at the end for open connection and off-topic conversation.
+ Pronouns & Inclusion: We honor each person’s identity. If you’d like to share your pronouns during introductions, this is a safe space to do so.
+ Confidentiality & Consent: What is shared in circle stays in circle. Please don’t share someone else’s story outside the space unless you have their clear permission.
+ Accessibility: If you have any access needs or questions about participating, feel free to reach out beforehand.
+ Location Details: In the colder seasons, our circles are currently held at HeartSpace, a community yurt. GPS will guide you to the home at the end of the street (street parking is available). There is some directional signage for "Heartspace" around the house and garage which lead you through the garage, up the stairs, and to the back of the home where the yurt is. Please note that due to the stairs, the space is not wheelchair accessible. If you have any issues finding the event location, please call or text 509-862-7360 BEFORE the start time. After this time, the phone will be silenced in respect for the circle.
