Artists: Deva Premal and Miten
Deva Premal and Miten are a musical duo renowned for their performances of Sanskrit mantras and spiritually inspired songs. Deva Premal, born Jolantha Fries on April 2, 1970, in Nuremberg, Germany, grew up in a musical and spiritually inclined family. Her mother was a classical musician, and her father, an artist, introduced her to Eastern spirituality and mantra chanting from a young age. Miten, born Andy Desmond in 1947 in London, England, was a successful musician in the 1960s and 1970s, performing with bands like Fleetwood Mac. Feeling a deeper calling, he left his rock career to explore spirituality, which led him to the ashram of Indian mystic Osho in Pune, India. It was there, in 1990, that Deva and Miten met and began their musical and life partnership. Together, they have released numerous albums blending ancient mantras with contemporary melodies, aiming to create music that facilitates meditation, healing, and inner peace. Their work has contributed significantly to bringing mantra chanting into mainstream awareness, and they continue to tour globally, offering concerts and workshops that promote spiritual well-being through music.
